Losing Balance for Love is Part of Living a Balanced Life

February 7, 2012

In the end, I’ve come to believe in something I call “the physics of the quest”, a force in nature governed by laws as real as the law of gravity.  The rule of quest physics goes something like this:

If you’re brave enough to leave behind everything familiar and comforting, which can be anything from your house to bitter old resentments, and set out on a truth seeking journey (either externally or internally),

And if you are truly willing to regard everything that happens to you on that journey as a clue,

And if you accept everyone you meet along the way as a teacher,

And if you are prepared most of all to face and forgive some very difficult realities about yourself,

Then the truth will not be withheld from you.

Eat Pray Love

This is the last scene in the movie where she tells Katut (her mentor) that she has ended her relationship from a man she loved dearly.  She feared that she would “lose her balance” and herself in this new love. She had set out on a truth seeking journey to find herself…not love.  Katut’s response was, “Sometimes to lose balance for love is part of living a balanced life”.

As I was in my prayer time this morning asking God to reveal to me the mystery of his Word I was led to this (which I believe is the anchor on my balance scale).

You have to sometimes “lose yourself” in order to find yourself.

This last scene really spoke to my spirit today and the truth was definitely not withheld from me.
